WHAT IS THE NEOGEN PLASMA LASER?
Neogen PSR helps with tightening the skin around the upper eyelid, and makes your double eyelid more prominent. It also helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles under and around the eye. It is effective for reduction of pores, smoothing wrinkles, and brightening complexion due to the procedure’s unique heating profile and energy settings. Downtime from the procedure can vary from 1-4 days depending on power settings.
NeoGen Plasma Resurfacing (PSR) is considered to be a safe, non-surgical alternative to plastic surgery so there’s no need for a facelift. Neogen PSR is not a laser. Neogen converts nitrogen gas into plasma energy. The plasma emerges from the handpiece in controlled pulses and rapid heating of tissue occurs as it gives up its unique thermal energy to tissue. All of the tissue is treated. Neogen PSR is an FDA approved skin resurfacing procedure and works by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, creating a rejuvenated, revived look. When do I see results & how often should I have Plasma Resurfacing?An initial series of three (3) lighter treatments or one (1) aggressive treatment is highly recommended. The results are immediate. After 5-10 days, the upper layers of the treated skin will shed with washing your skin. Your face will be brightened and smoothed. Plasma resurfacing triggers collagen and elastin reproduction, which builds over time. You’ll be able to see a difference in your skin lifting and tightening beginning three months after your treatment(s). Patients report seeing improvement for up to a year.A light (low energy) treatment can be repeated monthly. We recommend trying three treatments, one month apart.
An aggressive treatment usually does not need to be repeated for 2-3 years, but patients are welcome if wanting to stimulate collagen and elastin again. May repeat treatment yearly.
During your Plasma Resurfacing treatment:Your skin will be cleansed (and for patients receiving a more aggressive treatment, numbing cream applied before your treatment for 45-60 minutes). For patients receiving a gentle, more spa-like treatment, no numbing is necessary. During your treatment, you will hear a clapping or snapping sound with each pulse of the plasma. You will experience a warm sensation. If your treatment is aggressive, you will feel a concentration of heat, almost like a pinprick. Neogen PSR penetrates the superficial and deeper levels of the dermis to replace damaged collagen and encourage new collagen growth for new skin.
Immediately after the procedure, the treated area may be pink, have moderate swelling and mild dryness for 1-2 days. For treatments done with higher-powered settings, there can be slight flakiness of the skin on the 3rd or 4th day. Shedding is normal as the skin is resurfacing and ridding of old skin. After one week, the skin will appear brighter, fresh, and smooth. Results become more obvious with each treatment.
Make-up can be applied immediately post-procedure as there is no damage to the outer layer of the skin. Use a gentle, mild cleanser and avoid sun exposure for at least one week. Sunscreen should be applied accordingly, as well as suitable moisturizers and serums.
