Botox

WHAT is botox?

As we age, stress, and expose ourselves to environmental damage, the skin loses its elasticity and flexibility. As a result, the skin develops fine lines and wrinkles, especially on the face. Although it’s mostly used to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes, there are so many other ways to use botox.

What can Botox do for you?

  • Reduce excess sweating

including the underarms, scalp, forehead, palms, soles, and even the scrotum. This condition is uncomfortable and can affect the quality of life. When injected into these areas, the neuromodulators like Xeomin, Dysport or Botox blocks signaling to the sweat glands, and hence reduce wetness in the treated areas

  • Smooth out wrinkles

By relaxing the muscles, which can also result in subtle lifting, the areas that are treated (neck, jawline, frown lines, forehead, etc.) effects surrounding muscles that are connected. Marionette lines show with age and can be hereditary. Once treated early, a dermatologist injects the neuromodulator into the depressor anguli oris. These are the muscles that control frowning. The treatment tightens the skin and muscles around the lips.

  • Chronic Migraines

Use of botox to target the specific muscles and nerves involved in migraines, it prevents headaches and migraines before they even start. This method typically has fewer side effects than the daily medications that many people take for migraines.

    Reduce Teeth Grinding

By relaxing the masseter muscles which are around the jawlines, grinding or clenching of the teeth are reduced. Most people who are clenching their teeth do it during their sleep, so they wake up with tightness or pain around the jawline and/or get migraines throughout the day. So, injecting botox to these muscles is a great temporary relief, while also softening the jawline for a slimmer looking face. Effects usually last 3-6 months depending on how strong the muscles were previously, but can be expected to relax for longer periods with repeated touch-up treatments.

    Slimmer Face

As noted above, when botox is injected to the jawline, the muscles are relaxed and become slimmer overtime as they are not being overworked. This makes it a great non-surgical alternative to facial slimming.

  • Gummy Smile

Botox is injected along the upper lip, this will help the muscles around the lips to relax so that when you smile, the gums will be covered, and more of your lips will show.
